A review and giveaway in association with Jord wooden watches
I have to admit I hadn’t ever heard of wooden watches until I was contacted by the lovely team at Jord Watches. I had heard of wooden sunglasses, wooden toothbrushes, but not wooden watches.
The first thing that struck me (and my husband: the infamous Mr B) about the Jord watch – was the packaging. It arrived well packaged from America, and then inside was a beautiful wooden box. The shipping from America didn’t actually cost me anything. All shipping to the UK and around the world is completely free, I thought that was more than worth mentioning early on in this review.
I love their packaging
Mr B had his eye on the box and was demanding ‘keeps’ straight away. I never imagined they would use wooden packaging, but what a thoughtful idea, not only does it act as a keep sake, but it is more sustainable for the environment than plastic infused cardboard. And it has this adorable little drawer that you can put your missing links in.
Frankie Zebrawood and Navy
We chose the Frankie Zebrawood and Navy to review because just like a good pair of denim jeans it goes with just about anything! And i’m really glad we did. There is a gorgeous contrast between the cobalt blue of the face and the tan wooden strap. This is truly one of the most unique watches I have ever seen. Now, I was a little skeptical at first, and wasn’t sure how the finish would be on a wooden watch, but the intricacy of the link chains, how they fit together and how secure the clasp is had me and my husband baffled.
Wooden men’s watch or my wooden watch?
Originally Jord Watches wanted us to do a father days giveaway, but to cut a long story short, we have now teamed up to do their summer promotion. When I was contacted they asked if my husband would like a unique minimalist watch for the summer? Of course I said yes he would, but hang on…so would I! And when they asked us to measure the wrist size before sending the watch, I might have measured my wrist instead. I know, I know it is a men’s wooden watch, but I really wanted it. So for the purpose of this review you will see the men’s version modeled by me and my husband.
But I think part of the charm of these unique watches is that they have a totally unisex vibe going on.
My honest wooden watch review
Before we get to the Jord Wooden Watches summer competition (details below) I want to give the wooden timepiece a fair review too. Firstly I think they are a great gift or accessory for the summer, very unique, a bit of conversation piece, and they are insanely light weight. You cannot even feel it when its on your wrist. The quality is gorgeous, and the individuality of the wood really shines through. I love simple and elegant watch face which is large enough for a man, or if you’re a girl who likes a big watch face like me, then perfect too. If you like your watch faces on the more delicate side they also do an exquisite range of Womens Wooden Watches
Annoyingly, due to a comedy of errors from our Royal Mail Postal service the shipment from America took a little longer than we hoped. But with support from the Jord team and with the correct tracking number it was finally sorted out.
And lastly (not sure how long this would last) but the watch smells incredible. I LOVE the smell of wood, sandal wood, freshly sawn wood, honestly I can get high on that stuff. And this doesn’t disappoint. I can now be found sniffing my wrist daily!
